Revlon Colorstay Nail polish review! (Wordy and Picture Heavy post)

Hello my fellow nail polish addicts!!! Today I’m going to share my thoughts on Revlon’s new Colorstay nail polish! I’ve heard some mixed things about this polish, some people hate it and some people love it. I was curious about this new line of polish because it claims to be like gel nails and are suppose to last 7 to 10 days without chipping. I’ll be completely honest, I didn’t believe that claim one bit, but since I’m a sucker for polish I thought I would give it a chance and pick up a few colors.

From L to R: Cayenne, Rich Raspberry, Bare Bones

You can watch my review of these polishes HERE!

Click the “Read More” button to see if this polish lives up to its claims!

Okay let me start by saying this, I was a little disappointed with the color selection. Don’t get me wrong the colors are beautiful but I feel like the there wasn’t that much of a variety, hopefully they’ll come out with more colors in the future. The price of the polish will vary depending on where you buy them.

Now let’s talk about the design of the bottle. I really think that Revlon as a whole is stepping up their game with their packaging and their products in general. The bottle is simple yet sleek. You get a smaller amount of polish than you would in your average bottle of polish, the average polish is .5 fl. oz. where as the Revlon polishes are .4 fl. oz., but that wasn’t to much of a problem considering the application of these polishes! The brush is AMAZING!!!!! It’s thin and the corners of the brush is slightly rounded off, which gives you more control when applying the polish by your cuticles.

The polish is 3-free, which means that it does NOT contain DPB, toluene, and formaldehyde. The formula was a little on the thick side but it was perfect for applying the polish. The application of the polish was flawless and smooth, definitely a two coater with all of the colors that I have. The polish leveled itself very well and it dried a little faster than your average polish. The formula is also very flexible, meaning that if you bent your nails the polish wouldn’t crack. The finish of the polish was smooth and very shiny, so shiny that I almost forgot to put on a topcoat on because I thought that I had already done so.

Now I’m going to talk about the wear of this polish!!!! Like I said before I didn’t really believe that this polish was going to last as long as they claimed it would, but I was pleasantly surprised that this polish wore very well! Let’s get to the pictures shall we?!

Day 1: I decided to wear Rich Raspberry, 2 coats, for this “test!”

The polish had a “creally” finish, cream + jelly, and you could slightly see my nail line but it wasn’t that noticeable.

Day 2: There was some more tip wear and you can see that I scuffed up my nails a little bit!

Day 3: My left hand is still looking great!

On the other hand, my right hand was starting to look a little rough.

You can see that I scuffed them up a little more but they still haven’t chipped yet!

Day 4: The tip wear is a little more noticeable, but the polish still hasn’t chipped!

Day 5: The polish finally chipped! : (

This was partially my fault since I started picking at it, but it still isn’t that bad.

My right hand

You can see that I scuffed up my nails a bit more.

Day 6: The chip got a little bigger and the tip wear is very noticeable

Right hand

Phew!!!! Are y’all still with me?! I’m almost done talking about this lovely polish!

I think I could’ve kept this polish on for a few more days but I decided that it was time to do something different with my nails. I really put this polish to work! I did a lot more with my hands than I would normally do just to see if I would have a chunk of polish missing by the end of the day!

Do I think this polish could last up to 10 days? I really think it could…if you work an office job and really don’t rough your hands up much I think this polish will wear beautifully!!! I was really impressed with how my nails looked after day 6! Some of my other polishes that I spend more money on usually last around 3 days before it starts chipping. I also didn’t have any cracks on my nails while I was wearing the polish, which is a problem that I sometimes have with other brands.

Overall, I really really love this polish, I’ve already purchased a couple more colors! I would definitely recommend this polish to everyone and their momma, especially those that have a busy lifestyle and don’t have much time to do their nails on a daily basis. I haven’t tried the topcoat or basecoat, but I might in the future to see if the polish will last longer without chipping. Since people have had mixed feelings about these polishes, I would suggest getting one polish and seeing how the formula reacts with your nails. I’ve heard of people saying that the polish dries out their nails, causing them to peel and break, even with a base coat. Personally I think that the polish kind of strengthened my nails.

So there you have it! Have y’all tried the Revlon Colorstay nail polish? If so, I would love to hear your opinion about it.

Thanks for reading,

Review Revlon Top Speed Nail Polish

Today I have swatches for you from the new Revlon Top Speed™ fast dry nail enamel range. I must admit I haven’t tried too many Revlon polishes so I was excited to be given the opportunity to try these out! Especially after seeing the bright colours in the collection and also the fact that these claim to dry in 60 seconds. I am ALWAYS up for fast dry nail polish!

What they say:

“These days, who can spare more than 60 seconds? Revlon believes that looking glamorous doesn’t need to take all day. Revlon Top Speed™ Nail Enamel contains a patented formula which gives an amazingly quick, smooth lay down of colour for a gorgeous, super shiny finish in only a minute.

With a revolutionary ColorPrecise™ Brush that is engineered to work seamlessly with the one coat, fast dry formula, Revlon Top Speed™ promises a salon-quality application every time – in half the drying time. And with the gorgeous array of runway-worthy shades, it will be 60 seconds worth sparing!”

Onto the swatches!

Electric is is an absolutely gorgeous shimmery yellow polish. To be completely honest I didn’t have high hopes for this one as most yellows are a streaky mess. But boy was I wrong! It applied VERY well and I experienced no baldness or streakiness whatsoever. My favourite of the ones I was sent to try out by far. 3 coats is pictured.

Close up:

Sheer Cotton is a very pretty milky pink sheer. This indeed was a VERY sheer polish and unfortunately it was rather a pain to apply. It dragged terribly and therefore needed 4 coats which is pictured. I really like the colour though – it’s a great cleanser colour if you need something toned down after wearing too many bright colours or something.

Close up:

Chili is an almost neon orangey-red polish. It has an almost jelly-like formula and is super opaque. It was wonderful to apply and is just such a HOT colour! It really reminds me of chilli sauce! 2 coats is pictured however 1 would be enough.

Close up:

Jelly is a gorgeous pinkish red creme. In my swatches it leans more pink however in real life it’s somewhat more red. It’s super opaque and application was OK. 3 coats is pictured.

Sheer Pearl is a very pretty pearly shimmer polish. Because it has “sheer” in the name I didn’t have high hopes but again I was wrong! It’s very pretty and application was surprisingly good – it was opaque in 3 coats which is pictured. This is actually my 2nd favourite of the colours I was sent.

Royal is a gorgeous royal blue creme. The first time I applied Royal it was an absolute mess!! I couldn’t get the brush to work for me and I flooded nearly every cuticle. When it came to actually swatching the polish however I had no issues with application at all but the formula is a little on the thin side. It’s quite opaque and 2 coats is pictured and it dried to a semi-matte finish.

Overall: I enjoyed trying out the Revlon Top Speed™ fast dry nail enamels. The colours in the range are fantastic and there are 32 amazing shades to choose from! Being a colour person (when it comes to nails anyway!) I love that they have everything from pastels to reds to greens and vampy shades.

Samyang Ramen Review

Annyeonghseyo dear readers!

This very post will be slightly different than the usual’s! First and foremost, we would like to slip in a few secrets about one of our authors. Her love for spiciness is impeccable where doses of chili are just the mere start of every meal followed by dashes of sambal chilli (Malay for chili paste). And therefore, I would like to introduce this very product to you guys whom share the same odd interest too. My sincere apologies to whom who can not take even a gist of spiciness. Mian!

Samyang Fried Spicy Chicken Paper Cup Noodles

Samyang Fried Spicy Chicken Noodles (140g)

Spiciness: 10/10

Taste: 7/10

Texture: ??/10

Ingredients: Wheat flour, onion extract, red chili seed oil, garlic, etc

Packaging: 8/10

In justification to what’s shared above for the review, I would like to emphasized that all the ratings are  merely just a humble personal opinion from a lovely food lover. And without any waste of time, let me have the honor to recognize this product as one of the spiciest instant noodles I have tried or probably will ever try, period! (Do recommend if there are any spicier instant noodles out there- You will be rewarded generously). 2013_4_18_1028_004 The only reason, there is a seven out of the whole ten, the taste of the sauce is as flavorful as the other noodles I have tried. Did not really find it anything special except that for by the third to fourth mouthful of the noodles, my taste buds were numb as a sore thumb. So, that is how spicy it can be.  Texture vise, it really depends on how well you cook your instant noodles. Time period? Springiness of noodles? fired_spicy_chicken_noodle2That is very dependent on your skills to judge. Everything that is imported in would be sure expensive. So, just give a try and challenge your taste buds with a stronghold mentality..

Anyoung hee gaseyo!

Orly-Baked Review

Hello There Everyone!!! Today I have to share with you 3 of the Orly Baked Collection. When this collection caught my attention I was super stoked that we were going to get them here in Australia. So when I had the opportunity to share 3 of the amazing colours with you today I totally jumped at the chance!!!!
The Baked collection consists of 6 polishes which are all bright and neon. As a collection I think it is one of the best neon collections out there ATM. All the colours look amazing.
I have Saturated, Tropical Pop and Neon Heat to share today.
Saturated- Is a bright Indigo/Purple neon creme. This polish was a real hard polish to photograph and honestly unless your PC/tablet/Iphone screen is calibrated the colour may not look to you in these swatches as it does in real life. It was one of those colour that is just impossible to photograph. On my camera screen the polish looked totally different to the actual polish but on my PC screen it looked ok.
Ok so on to the polish. This is an amazing colour. I cannot tell you all enough that EVERYONE NEEDS THIS IN THEIR COLLECTION!!!!!!!!!! the formula was to die for, and in 2 coats it was opaque, plus on top of the amazingness of the colour it is UV reactive so under black light, which you will see in some nail art i’ll add at the end of the post. Then to top it all off you DON’T need a white base as so many neons require! I just cannot rave about it enough!

Neon Heat- Is a super bright Pink polish. This is again an amazing polish. The formula was fantastic and again a white base coat was not needed. I just used 2 coats by itself. I could have even got away with one coat the pigment is so dense in the polish. You will see how opaque they are when you see the nail art as I only used one coat when creating and layering the colours.

Tropical Pop- Is a neon orange creme. Once again the formula was just amazing! and only 2 coats for opacity with no white base coat either! I am just well….speechless that I can use these neons and not have to use a white base! I wish all neons were this awesome! Also like the other 2 polishes Tropical Pop is UV reactive. So black lights make it glow soooo very much!!!!!!

After swatching these colours the post came and I received some So I HAD to give them a go with these amazing colours! then pop them under a black light!!!!!

saturated, tropical pop and neon heat under black light using large chevrons.

As you can see these cremes are great for nail art and stand out in both normal light as well as black light.
you can purchase The Backed Collection by Orly at your local salon.
